Nuclear installations in Germany
Germany had decided in 2011 to accelerate the phase-out of nuclear power for electricity generation. The lifetimes of the nuclear power plants still in operation at that time were defined in the Atomic Energy Act. Operating research reactors and nuclear supply and disposal facilities are not affected by the accelerated phase-out. By government decision, the last three German nuclear power plants still in operation were finally decommissioned on 15 April 2023. Furthermore, the Atomic Energy Act does not grant any licences for the construction and operation of nuclear power plants for commercial electricity generation in Germany.
