BASE New BASE President Christian Kühn in office

Christian Kühn took office today as the new President of the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BASE). Kühn was welcomed by the 450 BASE employees both at the headquarters in Berlin-Charlottenburg as well as online at the Salzgitter, Cologne and Bonn sites, and gave an initial outlook on his future work.

Site selection procedure BASE President enters retirement

The President of the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BASE), Wolfram König, will be retiring today, 31 January 2024. Wolfram König was the first President to be appointed to the Federal Office on 1 August 2016.

New BASE President: Christian Kühn succeeds Wolfram König

Christian Kühn, formerly Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) will take over as head of BASE on 15 February 2024, succeeding the previous president Wolfram König, who is retiring at the end of January.

The World Nuclear Industry Status Report (WNISR) was presented in Brussels on 6 December. The analysis, prepared by an international team of experts, examines the current status of the global nuclear industry.
