New brochure on the search for a repository

suche:x is the title of a new brochure published by the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BfE). The aim is to inform the public of all important topics relating to the search for a repository for high-level radioactive waste. The BfE provides basic knowledge in compressed form on a small number of pages.

“Search for a repository” teaching material

Teachers now have the possibility to access updated teaching material on one of the most important international environmental projects of the coming decades. Under the heading “Where shall we put the radioactive waste?” teachers and educationalists will find curriculum contents for different age groups on the internet.

The Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BfE) will only grant a licence for an interim storage facility at the Brunsbüttel site on the basis of a security concept containing structural and technical measures for a retrofitted interim storage facility. It is a planning requirement that the interim storage facility be protected against acts of terror and sabotage.
